life events

Life has its joys and its heartaches. Our team are here to walk with you through the ups and downs that we all experience.

Weddings

Marriage is a wonderful thing that we love to celebrate. Love is a gift from God and when a couple want to join their lives together, God wants to bless that partnership.

If you live in our parish or have a qualifying connection to St. Augustine’s with St Luke’s, please get in touch with the Church Office to discuss getting married here: 020 8295 1550 or email office@st-augustines.org.uk

Baptism & Confirmation

Baptism (also called Christening) is an important part of the Christian journey. For the baptism of children, it is a time to thank God for the gift of the child and to begin their journey of faith with Jesus. Baptism is a sacrament (a visible sign of God’s love and grace) and signifies the spiritual birth of a person into the worldwide Christian faith and their local church family.

Teenagers and adults who were not baptised as children may also choose to make a personal commitment to follow Christ. This can be celebrated during a Sunday morning service or as part of a Confirmation service led by the bishop. Unlike children, young people and adults are making their own decision to become part of the Church. For this reason, it is usual to attend a number of sessions exploring the Christian faith in preparation for Baptism or Confirmation.

Funerals

When someone we love dies, it is important to mark the occasion properly. A Church of England funeral, either in church or at a crematorium chapel, is an opportunity to give thanks to God for the person who has died, for all that was good in their lives and for the way in which our lives have been enriched by them.

It is also important for those of us who continue to live in this world. For our own health and the importance of the grieving process, it is vital that we have a chance to say goodbye properly.

If you would like information about holding a funeral at St. Augustine's church, or at a local crematorium, then please contact the Church Office to discuss the arrangements: 020 8295 1550 or email office@st-augustines.org.uk
