Visit from the Archbishop of Canterbury - 30th October 2018

After meeting with people living with dementia, their families and carers at the Forget-Me-Not café, the Archbishop commissioned a number new Anna Chaplains as part of a short service celebrating the Diocese’s pioneering work with dementia and Anna Chaplaincy. With grateful thanks to Diana Patterson and all the volunteers who made the afternoon so special.

Katrina’s Last Sunday 1st July 2018

‘The day Johnny gets his wife back?’

What a wonderful day of celebration! The church came together to celebrate Katrina’s 25 years in ministry. The service was full of music and singing, joy and tears. Rev Jean Kerr reminded us that we are all ‘living stones’ which are being ‘chipped away’ and sculpted by God. It was a sad day too, as it was Katrina’s last service at St Augustine’s with St Luke’s after 12 years of devoted service to the Parish. We will always remember her servant hearted leadership and the love and fun she brought. Thank you to Katrina and to the ‘vicar’s wife’. Our love and prayers go with you into the next season of your life together.

Parish Day 22 April 2018

“Best day I’ve had in a long time”

What a wonderful day! After our normal 8am and 10am Communion services, a quick cup of tea or coffee and we were into the first annual church meeting for our newly united parish of St Augustine’s with St Luke’s.

A splendid lunch for over 50 people then time to explore where God might be leading us in the coming year. We had workshop sessions on spiritual gifts, how we might improve our communications, celebrating opportunities for service, and pastoral care and prayer ministry. There was beautiful artwork being fashioned in the Creative Space and we learned new songs that we can introduce to Sunday services in the coming weeks. The afternoon finished in worship, offering back to God all that he has so graciously given us in the past year, praying for a Father’s blessing, that Jesus would be our good shepherd, and that the Holy Spirit would always be our guide and comforter.

“I hope we’ll be doing this every year”.

Pentecost 2017

We always enjoy celebrating the great Christian festivals and this year our Pentecost service finished with the musicians leading the entire congregation out onto the grass outside the church. Pentecost is the festival when Christians celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and is often regarded as the birthday of the Christian church and the start of the church's mission to the world.

Thy Kingdom Come: Ascension Day to Pentecost

Thanksgiving and Memorial Service March 2017

On Sunday 5 March we had a Confirmation service led by Bishop Michael Turnbull at which we celebrated three new people confirming their baptism vows as members of God's worldwide Church. It was a great occasion, with wonderful music and lost of visitors from our partner churches, Holy Trinity and St Luke's. Please continue to pray that God will bless John Henry, Kayleigh Lee and Mark Ssesanga in the years ahead.

The Bishop of Rochester has challenged us to consider "What may the Holy Spirit be saying to us about our area?" Come to our Sunday morning services to see what The book of Revelation might have to teach us. Or listen to the talks on the Audio page of the website.
